Search continues for Eastford bank robbers
State police said this morning they are still looking for two suspects who robbed a bank in town around midday Friday.
The two armed men entered the New Alliance Bank on Route 198 at approximately 11:14 a.m. Friday and demanded cash, according to police.
State police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said there were no arrests or updates on the case this morning and declined to discuss additional details.
“It would be counterproductive to the investigation at this time,” Vance said, adding police were “aggressively investigating” the incident.
The two men fled the bank in the same white vehicle, which witnesses described as “possibly a station wagon with possible out-of-state plates,” according to police.
Preliminary information from witnesses indicated one man, in his 30s, was 6-feet tall and 200 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, glasses, baseball cap and dark sweatshirt, police said.
The second man, also appearing to be in his 30s, was described as 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 180 pounds, wearing a dark ski mask, dark sweatshirt, blue jeans, black work boots and possibly white latex gloves, according to police.
State police are asking anyone with information to contact the Troop D in Danielson at (860) 779-4900.
The incident was the third bank robbery in the area since mid-July, all of them targeting New Alliance banks. The other two resulted in arrests the same day.
James Moore, 45, of 120 Risley St., East Hartford, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny, threatening and breach of peace after he allegedly robbed the New Alliance on Route 66 in Columbia in July.
The state Department of Justice did not have an update on Moore’s status this morning.
Then, in mid-September, Alvin Austin Robertson, 47, of 7 Woodland St., Hartford, allegedly targeted the New Alliance on Route 66 in Hebron.
He was charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, second-degree breach of peace and improper use of a license plate.
Robertson was still being held on $95,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court today.
