Evan Chamberlain pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters and walking two, as Tri-County defeated Newington, 12-1, in a Zone VII American  Legion baseball game on Wednesday night.

Chamberlain, who finished his complete-game effort with 99 pitches, retired 12 straight batters before issuing a walk to start the fifth inning when Newington eventually scored on an infield error.

Brett Dootson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI and Jared Szuba went 2-for-2 with two RBI for Tri-County (11-10-1 overall, 6-6 VII). With the loss, Newington fell to 2-8 in the Zone.

Tri-County returns to action tonight at 5 p.m. at West Road Field in Marlborough when the locals will resume play from a game suspended against Glastonbury on June 23 in the top of the ninth inning tied at 1-all.

When the suspended game ends, Tri-County and Glastonbury will then begin their regularly-scheduled game.
